Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Paramedic/Emergency Services Technician to join our team on a part-time day shift basis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform intake and rooming of patients, in coordination with a Registered Nurse.
  • Update patients on delays and communicate expected time frames.
  • Round on patients in department and waiting room.
  • Support patient flow process, under the direction of a RN.
  • Perform clerical functions such as answering phones and placing pages and phone calls to consultants.
  • Assist the clinical team with procedures such as CPR, defibrillation, and administration of ACLS medications within scope of practice.
  • Set up equipment, including sterile procedures.
  • Perform and monitor routine vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse and respiration, temperature, pulse oximetry and capnography.
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs.
  • Perform intravenous line insertion, interosseous access and phlebotomy.
  • Administer intravenous isotonic solutions under the direction of licensed provider.
  • Perform basic splinting, icing and educating on crutch walking.
  • Assist in transporting patients by cart or wheelchair, including patients requiring telemetry.
  • Assist with specimen and supply delivery and pick up to and from various departments.
  • Assist patients with overall care and toileting needs.
  • Perform room turnover/preparedness.
  • Clean equipment.
  • Observe patients' condition and progress and inform RN of changes or concerns.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patients.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to assist other healthcare team members.
  • Perform intentional rounding of EMS providers in the Emergency Department and communicate needs/concerns to the Emergency leadership team.
Requirements
  • Current State of Michigan National Registry Paramedic License, BCLS, ACLS.
  • Two years of recent direct patient care experience in emergency transport or emergency room.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
