The Cloud Engineer is responsible for conducting requirements analysis and developing high-level system architectures to create specifications for system installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting. This role involves guiding users in defining their needs, advising on alternative solutions, and performing feasibility studies. The engineer will provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology within a cloud environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, configuring, and installing software for development, testing, and production systems.
  • Collaborating directly with development teams and system end-users.
  • Reviewing and testing infrastructure components to ensure compliance with design specifications and documenting test outcomes.
  • Resolving reported system issues efficiently.
  • Utilizing cloud engineering methodologies suitable for various environments.
  • Contributing to system design by analyzing hardware/software trade-offs and system reusability.
  • Focusing on complex networking topics.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with Agile methodologies and possess the ability to work effectively within a software development team.

Essential Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to adapt traditional software and algorithms for cloud environments.
  • Support experience with platforms and services based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other commercial cloud solutions.
  • Expertise in transitioning operational systems and applications from traditional platforms to cloud infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of cloud-related data management tools and OpenSource (NoSQL) products.
  • Experience in deploying operational systems and applications in cloud settings.
  • Conducting assessments of cloud-related algorithms and systems to identify performance improvements.

The candidate should have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software development/engineering in similar programs and contracts, with at least four (4) years focused on cloud technologies. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, although four (4) additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
