Job Summary:

The Infection Control Nurse will be responsible for conducting an annual infection control risk assessment and analysis, developing and reviewing the effectiveness of the infection prevention and control program's goals and objectives, and implementing data collection and surveillance strategies using the infection prevention and control program policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveillance and investigations using epidemiologic principles
  • Collect and compile surveillance data using standardized surveillance definitions
  • Report findings to key stakeholders, including facility leadership and Safety and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committees
  • Educate and be a resource to healthcare providers, staff, residents, families/visitors, and the general public
  • Collaborate in the development and delivery of educational programs for infection prevention and control
  • Serve as a role model and coach, working collaboratively with all facility departments, disciplines, and staff members to implement infection prevention and control practices
  • Assist with occupational health practices to reduce the risk of infection transmission to staff and residents
  • Promote and assist with immunization program strategies for staff and residents to reduce the likelihood of transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with experience in infection control and prevention. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
