Manor Independent School District is seeking a qualified Substitute Registered Nurse to provide health services to students and staff.
Job Summary:The Substitute Registered Nurse will be responsible for implementing comprehensive health services, providing health education, and promoting student well-being. This is a temporary position, and the successful candidate will work closely with the health services coordinator and school administration to ensure seamless delivery of health services.
Responsibilities:- Provide temporary and emergency care for students and staff according to district policy and procedures.
- Serve as a health advocate for students and staff.
- Notify parents or emergency contacts of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care as needed.
- Coordinate the administration of medications to students at school, following district policy and procedures.
- Develop and implement health education programs for students and staff.
- Provide health counseling and instruction to individual students.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community.
- Assess student problems and make referrals as needed, working with students, teachers, parents, and medical professionals.
- Participate in the assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
- Communicate regularly with the principal and health services coordinator regarding health services issues.
- Review and evaluate immunization records.
- Enforce procedures to ensure proper program administration according to district policy.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and documents required, including clinic records and health records on all students.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rules, State Board of Education rules, and board policy in the health services area.
- Report potential health and safety hazards to the principal.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Maintain certification in CPR.
- Model professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
- Collaborate with campus administrators, school counselors, teachers, parents, food service, and other staff regarding the health needs of the general population and students with identified health conditions.
- Collaborate with other professionals regarding the implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Meet with faculty and staff as needed to educate on health-related topics.
- Dependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening, CPR certification.
