Clinical Assistant

The Clinical Assistant plays a vital role in providing clinical support services on the patient care unit. Working in collaboration with the Unit Director and Staff Development Instructor, and under the supervision of the Staff Registered Nurses, this individual plans and reviews equipment and supply needs, assists the nursing staff with specific technical procedures, and contributes to patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities- Technical Skills
- Demonstrates competency in skills and procedures, adhering to established standards.
- Performs effectively in emergency situations, remaining calm and available during code situations.
- Documents and reports patient data to the RN in a timely manner, ensuring accurate and reliable information.
- Demonstrates awareness of Patients' Rights, treating patients and families with respect, dignity, and kindness.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Practices effective problem identification and problem solution skills, addressing challenges in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrates effective conflict resolution processes, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
- Recognizes changes in patient status and advises appropriate personnel immediately, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Conducts self in a professional manner with all internal and external customers, upholding the highest standards of behavior.
- Dresses appropriately for the job requirement, adhering to Arnot Health's dress code policy.
- Wears a name tag as required, promoting a culture of identification and respect.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, with completion of orientation, exam, and competencies. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire date.
Physical DemandsThe Clinical Assistant will be required to perform appreciable physical effort, including lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving patients of various sizes, capabilities, and abilities. Some lifting, reaching, and stooping may be required. Ability to read and write is essential, as well as the ability to perform direct patient care tasks. The individual will be required to be on their feet for much of the time.
Infection ControlThe Clinical Assistant will perform all aspects of Standard Precautions when engaging in patient care, adhering to Arnot Health's infection control policies and procedures.
