Key Responsibilities

  • Lay out horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for road widening projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Model and design roadway improvement projects using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer, leveraging your expertise to optimize project outcomes.
  • Utilize 3D visualization software to create engaging client and public communication presentations, effectively conveying project details and benefits.
  • Develop plan sheets and compile project packages for submission, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail throughout the process.
  • Complete roadway and drainage calculations using software and reference materials, ensuring precision and reliability.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates, providing valuable insights to inform project decisions.
  • Research and download available GIS open-source data, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Conduct field observations and data collection for office use and project discussion, applying your expertise to drive project success.
  • Stay current with new technology and advancements in the field, continually expanding your skill set and contributing to the growth of our team.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients and contractors, effectively communicating project details and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoDesk Civil 3D, with experience in using 3D visualization software.
  • VDOT experience and EIT certification are highly desirable.
