About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sponsored Research Administrator to join our team at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University. As a key member of our pre-award and post-award process, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with university and agency regulations, as well as providing exceptional support to our faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and apply accounting principles and practices to various fiscal functions, including expense reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain internal control procedures and processes for internal workflow.
  • Prepare and process proposals through PINS and other agency electronic submissions programs.
  • Review new award guidelines, procedures, and regulations with parties involved.
  • Monitor and review expenditures for accuracy and compliance, providing spending plan analysis and guidance to faculty.
  • Provide projections and guidance on future expense planning.
  • Review human resource expenditures and travel vouchers/reimbursements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Work with principal investigators on developing facets of pre-award budgets and post-award budget changes following university and agency rules and regulations compliance.
  • Award close-outs, including budget change financial approval (PMR).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework, or Associate's degree in Accounting, or Associate's degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Previous contracts and grants experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 3+ years of university experience in contracts and grants.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, PINS, RADAR/RED, and NSF Fastlane.
