As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and fostering a supportive atmosphere for patients and their families facing a range of healthcare challenges. This role requires the application of the nursing process to ensure quality care delivery while adhering to established hospital policies and performance improvement standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Nursing Director and in alignment with the established standards of care, the Oncology Registered Nurse will:
Deliver high-quality nursing care while adhering to quality improvement protocols
Exhibit effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team
Address the educational needs of patients and their families
Pursue ongoing professional development and promote the nursing profession
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following competencies:
- Ability to provide patient-centered care tailored to the unique demographics and needs of the patient population.
- Proficiency in assessing and adapting treatment plans to meet patient requirements.
- Capability to perform electronic documentation tasks, including ordering and patient data entry.
- Willingness to utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to established nursing standards and protocols.
- Physical capability to lift and move patients and equipment as required.
- Familiarity with electronic clinical documentation systems for accurate patient data management.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in a hospital or outpatient care setting is required.
- Experience or ongoing education in oncology nursing is preferred.
- Advanced skills in intravenous therapy are essential.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail are necessary.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Completion of the "Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course" is mandatory, with ongoing certification required.
- Oncology Nursing Certification is preferred.
- Intravenous Therapy Certification is preferred.
