Welder Specialist

Industrial Trade Services is seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder to join our team. As a Journeyman Welder, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding tasks, including TIG welding and fabrication of stainless steel sheet metal.

• Select and prepare materials and equipment according to specifications.
• Plan and execute welding layouts, assembly, and fabrication, applying knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal.
• Operate various welding processes, including Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, and Gas-Tungsten Arc.
• Lay out, position, and fit components together, using arc and arc gas welding equipment.
• Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components of products, such as piping systems, plate, pipe, and tube or structural shapes.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Connecting cables to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
• Obtaining and inserting electrodes into portable holders or threading consumable electrode wire through portable welding guns.
• Starting power supplies to produce electric current and striking arcs to melt and deposit metal.
• Guiding electrodes or guns along weld lines, maintaining length of arc and speed and movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
• Applying filler rods to supply weld metal and cleaning or degreasing weld joints or workplaces.

• High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or related area.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Ability to work under immediate supervision and perform tasks according to pre-established guidelines.
• Physical demands include regular talking and hearing, frequent sitting, and occasional standing, walking, climbing, or balancing.
• Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

The Journeyman Welder will work in a fast-paced industrial environment, with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. Respiratory protection may be required.
