We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the City of New Bern, NC. As a key member of our Water Resources Division, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our water treatment facilities, production wells, and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water treatment facilities, production wells, and booster pump stations to ensure compliance with Federal and State requirements.
- Monitor and record important data from laboratory test results, flow meters, chemical pump settings, and tank levels.
- Enter data into computer systems for creation of monthly operating reports, process control, and maintenance/repair recordkeeping.
- Adjust pump speeds and valve settings as directed to meet requirements of finished water quality parameters.
- Oversee chemical deliveries by vendors and perform minor repairs and maintenance on plant equipment.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in a water treatment plant.
- Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
- Water Treatment Plant Operator I: Possession of a Grade C-Well Water Treatment Plant Operator license issued by the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Water Treatment Plant Operator II: Possession of Grade C-Well Water Treatment and Grade C-Distribution Operator licenses issued by the State of North Carolina.
- Water Treatment Plant Operator III: Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina and Grade B-Well Water Treatment and Grade C-Distribution Operator licenses issued by the State of North Carolina.
- Water Treatment Plant Operator IV: Possession of Grade B-Well Water Treatment Plant Operator and Grade B-Distribution Operator licenses issued by the State of North Carolina.
