The Pharmacy Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring the safe and efficient processing and dispensing of medications. This individual is responsible for managing personnel functions, developing and implementing systems and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and supervise pharmacy staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy.
- Oversee the processing and dispensing of medications, including the preparation of intravenous medications and specialty products.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accrediting agency requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments and staff to coordinate and implement pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of pharmacy products and supplies.
- Ensure the proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy (ACPE).
- Advanced degree, such as a PGY1 residency, preferred.
- 4 years of hospital pharmacy and/or clinical experience, with management experience preferred.
