Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit initiative and the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all applicable regulations affecting food and nutrition services, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe, secure, and sanitary environment within the culinary department, promptly reporting any issues to management.
  • Utilize sound judgment to conserve supplies, minimize food waste, and manage utilities effectively.
  • Assist in the receipt and storage of food and supplies, ensuring proper labeling and handling techniques are followed.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are in good condition for use.
  • Transport and store kitchenware appropriately, ensuring an adequate supply of clean items is available for meal preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dishwashing area and dining spaces, adhering to established cleaning protocols.
  • Assist in food preparation for various dietary needs, ensuring compliance with planned menus and portion control.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Prepare meal trays accurately, ensuring dietary preferences and quality standards are met.
  • Support dining area operations, including table cleaning and sanitization.
  • Participate in training sessions and in-service education as required.
  • In the absence of supervisory staff, provide guidance to team members within the culinary department.
  • Adhere to the department's dress code and perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • A genuine interest in food service and a passion for working with the senior care population.
  • Willingness to learn food preparation and basic cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety procedures is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with diligence.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Proficiency in English, with the ability to read and comprehend job-related materials.
  • Good physical and mental health to perform job duties effectively.
  • Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn are beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams while adhering to established policies.
  • Commitment to fulfilling job responsibilities and maintaining punctuality.
  • Must obtain necessary sanitation certification as per company standards.
