The Produce Merchandising Coordinator is responsible for creating a visually appealing and well-organized produce department. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase and replenish produce through proper buying procedures, ensuring high-quality products are consistently available to customers.
  • Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Control spoilage and shrink, achieving turn goals and participating in inventory management processes.
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required, maintaining accurate records and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective merchandising strategies, ensuring products are properly displayed and easily accessible to customers.
  • Ensure orders for product are timely and accurate, monitoring inventory levels and making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Oversee customer special order procedure, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring timely delivery of requested products.
  • Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Support leadership in conducting inventories, providing guidance and assistance as needed to ensure accurate counts and minimal disruptions to operations.
  • Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, consistently striving for excellence in all aspects of the role.
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work, working all scheduled shifts and attending required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and modeling suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product, maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, adhering to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations, taking prompt action to address and resolve issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Extensive produce product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends.
  • Familiarity and/or willingness to learn about products, nutritional information, and other areas of study.
  • Working knowledge and application of all produce-related merchandising expectations.
  • Demonstrates a desire to grow with the Produce team.
  • Ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
  • 12+ months retail experience.


Benefits:

  • $18.50 - $30.20 hourly wage range, commensurate with experience.
