Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role within our collaborative healthcare team, which includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists, to deliver holistic and integrated patient care services. This role involves evaluating patient conditions and providing education to both patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and available community resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with complex health issues.
- Educate patients and families on care plans and health management.
- Coordinate care with various healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive treatment.
- Lead community educational initiatives and participate in professional committees.
Our clinic specializes in treating patients recovering from neurological incidents, including strokes, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries, as well as those needing fall prevention and lymphedema care.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a current RN license or a compact license recognized by the State of Vermont. The University of Vermont Health Network is transitioning towards an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. Therefore, all external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Certification as a Certified Rehab Registered Nurse (CRRN) is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant RN experience is required.
