About the Opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Lead Archaeologist to join our team in Austin, TX. As a key member of our Central Texas / Oklahoma operation, you will play a critical role in supporting our growing practice and contributing to the success of our cultural resource management projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement research designs and technical reports for large-scale projects
  • Oversee field research, data collection, and analysis, ensuring compliance with QA/QC plans
  • Train and mentor staff in technical reporting, site recording protocols, and research design implementation
  • Manage budgets, projects, and staff, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Maintain strong relationships with state and federal agency contacts and clients
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
  • Minimum 8 years of archaeology fieldwork experience, with a strong background in NEPA, Section 106, and the Antiquities Code of Texas
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) status or qualified for RPA status
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
