About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Archaeological Expert to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our cultural resources team, you will be responsible for leading and managing complex cultural resource investigations, including archaeological surveys, documentation, excavations, and testing reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Act as principal investigator, project archaeologist, or field director for high-profile cultural resource investigations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical products.
  • Team Management: Mentor, supervise, and lead technical and operations resources for staff and senior project managers, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Financial Management: Manage financials for key projects, ensuring effective budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality review and independent review protocols to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical products.
  • Business Development: Assist with and lead business development and marketing efforts, building new client relationships and maintaining existing ones.
  • Proposal Development: Lead technical elements of proposal development, including scope, budget, and schedule, to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Professional Development: Maintain a high professional profile externally through membership in professional organizations, leading to continually increasing client contact base.
  • Client-Facing Leadership: Serve in a client-facing and internal-facing leadership position for Stantec, providing exceptional service and support to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Analyze current and emerging technical issues and implement actions to proactively address market, business, regulatory, and economic issues.
  • HSSE Compliance: Participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards, and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
  • Staff Development: Provide supervision, training, technical direction, and mentoring to developing staff, promoting their growth and development.
Qualifications
  • Professional Qualifications: Proven professional writing, problem-solving, and communication skills, meeting the qualifications as described in the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archeology and Historic Preservation.
  • Credentials: Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or qualifications that meet the requirements to become an RPA, with demonstrated experience with the Texas Antiquities Code or comparable regulatory compliance for archaeological projects.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible consulting experience in cultural resources positions, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in cultural resource management and archaeological compliance survey primarily in Texas and the Gulf Coast region.
  • Education: Master's Degree in anthropology/archaeology or a related discipline from an accredited university.
