Robotics Quality Assurance Engineer
About Us:
Dusty Robotics is at the forefront of developing robotic tools tailored for the contemporary construction industry.
While the current construction landscape relies heavily on manual labor, we envision a future where skilled workers harness robotic automation to enhance safety, efficiency, and precision in their tasks.
Our goal is to create an environment where construction professionals can work without the risk of early retirement due to physical strain.
In our vision, the structures we inhabit are constructed by innovative teams who guide robots to handle the more monotonous, hazardous, and labor-intensive tasks.
Our Vision:
We aim to seamlessly connect the digital realm of architectural design with the skilled labor executing the work on-site, thereby expediting the digital evolution of the construction sector.
Our Key Product:
The FieldPrinter: a mobile printing solution that produces full-scale building layouts directly onto the concrete surfaces of construction sites.
In an industry where layout errors can lead to significant financial losses, our product guarantees that all teams are working from a unified and accurate digital model.
Your Role:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong passion for meticulously evaluating robotic technologies. This encompasses testing the internal software of the robots, user interfaces, and physical prototypes. If you have experience with robotics, medical devices, IoT technology, 3D printing, CNC machinery, or any intricate mechanical products with sophisticated software, you will excel in this position.
This role involves the manual testing of both hardware and software components of our robots.
The QA Engineer will play a crucial role within the Engineering team, collaborating closely with both hardware and software engineers.
You will also liaise with our field operations team to identify and replicate product issues encountered during on-site robot operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Review functional specifications, develop and implement test plans that cover user interfaces, APIs, and the physical operation of the robots.
Evaluate new features and core functionalities throughout the product development lifecycle to identify issues early.
Refine test plans and cases based on user feedback.
Create realistic testing environments for our robots in the laboratory.
Conduct physical evaluations of product releases in real-world construction settings.
Collaborate with the field operations team to address field issues and user feedback.
Experience in troubleshooting and managing bug tracking and test management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Occasional travel to deployment sites for field testing of new releases or peak operations.
Perform functional testing against simulation environments.
Required Qualifications:
Familiarity with software quality assurance processes.
Strong planning, communication, and observational skills.
A creative mindset for developing test scenarios.
1-3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
Self-driven, particularly in learning new software tools and quality assurance best practices.
Hands-on testing experience with complex software-driven physical products is advantageous.
Experience with AutoCAD or the ability to learn is beneficial.
Programming skills in Python or a similar language are a plus.
Why Work With Us:
By becoming part of our organization, you will play a vital role in a dynamic and rapidly expanding company. We are ambitious in our objectives, and your contributions are essential to our success.
We are committed to our mission and strive to eliminate obstacles that hinder our progress.
To support this, we offer an unlimited vacation policy, a 401k plan with employer matching, reasonable working hours, and flexible scheduling.

We actively encourage applications from a wide range of candidates, including those from historically underrepresented groups.
Our Commitment:
Dusty Robotics is dedicated to serving a diverse clientele from various backgrounds.
We believe that our mission is best fulfilled in an environment that is welcoming, safe, inclusive, and free from intimidation or harassment.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abusive behavior.Work Environment:

This role will primarily involve working from our office to facilitate swift collaboration with leadership and business teams.
