About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director for Safety, Risk, and Sustainability to join our team at California State University, Monterey Bay. This is a management-level position that requires a strong background in sustainability, risk management, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety, risk, and sustainability programs and policies across the campus.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to promote a culture of sustainability and risk management.
  • Convene stakeholders to facilitate coordination and strategic planning for campus sustainability and climate protection initiatives.
  • Manage and develop policies and procedures related to sustainability and risk management.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote safety, risk, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Supervise professional staff, student interns, and volunteers on programs and projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or experience working in the field of sustainability.
  • Substantial experience in sustainability, including a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sustainability theories and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and think creatively.
  • Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System, or equivalent student information system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated record of institutional change management in higher education.
  • Experience with sustainability policies and practices within a university setting.
  • Knowledge of California State University, local, state, and federal levels related to campus sustainability and climate protection.
