Position Overview:
The Lead Radiation Therapy Specialist is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and coordinating the overall operations of the radiation therapy team. This role includes managing staffing and work assignments, as well as directing, implementing, and updating policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance workflow, boost efficiency, and reinforce radiation safety measures. The specialist ensures the timely provision of precise radiation treatments and supervises the effective maintenance and operation of all radiation therapy equipment. This position acts as a liaison among department staff, physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare personnel. Additionally, the Lead Specialist performs all duties of lower-level staff as necessary and adheres to all applicable regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to maintain privacy and safety while delivering exceptional patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
EDUCATION:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- ARRT - Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- RHTT - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch.
- OR RHA - Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch.
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 8 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrated expertise in radiation therapy principles, procedures, and equipment, with significant experience in responding to emergencies, including traumas and medical alerts. Proficient in delivering radiation treatments with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, enabling the recognition and communication of potential abnormalities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds. Excellent time management and organizational abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks and adhering to standardized procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.
Familiarity with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and relevant information systems such as Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS).
Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks based on experience and best practices to achieve departmental goals. Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Proficient in analyzing data to resolve problems and proposing improvements to enhance team efficiency. Committed to maintaining the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI) and fostering collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to meet departmental objectives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time position with a standard work shift of 8 hours, Monday through Friday. No weekend requirements.
