Job Summary

Orlando Health seeks a highly skilled Infection Prevention and Control Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staffing functions, surveillance oversight, committee assignments, education development, and policy review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Infection Prevention and Control department, ensuring seamless execution of program goals and objectives.
  • Participate in systematic reviews of Orlando Health policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and optimization.
  • Investigate less-than-average performance for process and outcome monitors related to infection prevention and control, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and information, maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor workload of assigned team members, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
  • Supervise new team member orientation, ensuring a smooth transition and effective onboarding process.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce infections at hospital facilities assigned, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Ensure implementation of the infection prevention program at hospital facilities assigned, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
  • Monitor compliance with Infection Prevention and Control practice and regulatory guidelines at facilities assigned, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Act as a resource for Orlando Health managers, physicians, committees, and outpatient facilities, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Perform surveillance as needed, identifying and addressing potential infection control risks.
  • Manage various personnel functions, including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Represent the director in their absence, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
  • Represent Infection Prevention and Control on committees and task forces as assigned, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Actively seek learning opportunities related to Infection Prevention and Control, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a clinical field, such as Nursing, Medical Technology, or Registered Respiratory Therapist, with a valid license renewed bi-annually. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in health or life sciences or healthcare administration is also acceptable.

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc, renewed every five years.

Five (5) years of Infection Prevention and Control experience, with a proven track record of success in managing infection control programs and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
