As a dedicated Actuary on our Specialty Lines Pricing team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing advanced actuarial analyses to drive business growth and profitability. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of USAA.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and oversee statistical plans, analytical tools, and requirements for analyzing product experience, classification systems, rating plans, reserves, and catastrophes.
- Participate in short-term and long-term planning activities, making forecasts and projections to support company objectives and goals.
- Utilize advanced actuarial modeling software to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and determine financial strength.
- Monitor competitive market trends, industry research, and professional activities to maintain knowledge of current activities related to products, regulation, and market conditions.
- Creatively approach problems and issues from a wide range of perspectives to determine innovative techniques.
- Author and develop innovative solutions to business initiatives, responsible for training junior members on change and improvement.
- Perform highly complex analysis, design, coding, and testing in support of project responsibilities.
- Serve as a resource to team members on escalated issues of an unusual nature.
- Develop and manage requirements to deliver agile business changes, exceptional member experiences, and integrated solutions.
- Define business problems and develop business artifacts.
- Strategically partner with IT to influence the design, alignment, and implementation of technical business standards.
- Represent USAA's interests at industry-level committee meetings.
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required for a total of 12 years of experience) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years Actuarial/business/analytical experience + Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) held for 5 years; OR 6 years Actuarial/business/analytical experience + Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).
- Experience in developing and delivering innovative actuarial analyses/processes.
- Demonstrated experience and application of industry best practices in metric development/monitoring.
- Strong communication/presentation skills, including demonstrated experience effectively delivering key messages to stakeholders.
- Intermediate knowledge using Python software.
- Familiarity and experience with industry pricing software such as Earnix.
- Experience building and interpreting Generalized Linear Models (GLMs).
- Strong Actuarial pricing expertise with experience in using a variety of pricing methodologies and models.
- Experience leading multiple projects, managing competing priorities, maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Specialty Lines Pricing experience.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
