Job Summary: Staff Accountant for Esperanza Health Center

We are seeking a talented Staff Accountant to join our team at Esperanza Health Center. As a vital member of our Finance/Billing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial records and reports.

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, monthly financial closings, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will collaborate with team members to achieve financial goals and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal control procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable: Manage accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, payment reconciliation, and credit checks. Ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Payroll Administration: Serve as the primary backup for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and maintain employee payroll records.
  • Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial records and reports. Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit organization or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Financial Edge) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, and tax compliance requirements for non-profits.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • High integrity, a commitment to confidentiality, and ethical conduct. Ability to share faith in Christ with others.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve complex financial issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We offer a competitive salary of $70,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other organizational perks. The Staff Accountant will work in an office setting, with one day a week remote work options as per organizational policy.
