Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Repossession Specialist to join our team at Stellantis Financial Services US. As a key member of our asset recovery team, you will be responsible for the daily functions related to the location, recovery, and attainment of repossessed and impounded vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Qualify and assign accounts for repossession, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assign accounts to repossession companies, including involuntary, voluntary, abandoned, and impounded vehicles.
  • Document system updates and notify relevant departments upon vehicle recovery.
  • Review and update accounts assigned for repossession, conducting follow-ups with agents as needed.
  • Review accounts for payments or collection arrangements, placing accounts on hold or closing requests.
  • Closes dead-end assignments and forwards accounts to the skip department.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws regarding the right to cure, strict compliance letters, soldiers and sailors credit protection, and bankruptcy protection requirements.
  • Process vehicle reinstatements and redemptions.
  • Review repossession agency invoices and post to the AMW screen, forwarding to management for payment.
  • Handle impounded vehicles and secure their release.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two to five years of repossession or auto collection experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access software.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, local, state, and federal collection laws.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to noise and stress. The physical demands of this role include sitting, using hands to handle objects, and talking or hearing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
