Job Title: Tax Officer

The Tax Officer is a critical role within LevelUP HCS, responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of tax planning strategies and the ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review tax filings for clients in Private Wealth Management, including federal and state estate, fiduciary, individual, and entity tax returns.
  • Conduct research and analyze tax questions, staying informed about new or proposed changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize overall estate and income taxes.
  • Advise Trust Officers, Relationship Managers, attorneys, and accountants on tax matters affecting account management.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Tax Officer to develop and review tax plans.
  • Analyze tax issues and drive business decisions by making recommendations and involving key resources.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of records and information related to taxes and trust accounts.
  • Create financial statements and perform bookkeeping entries for individuals and entities such as partnerships, corporations, and private foundations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with knowledge of CCH ProSystem.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex tax provisions and planning strategies.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge and experience.
  • Solid understanding of portfolio accounting and related systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Ability to utilize tax research software for conducting tax research.
