Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Kitchen Coordinator to join our team at Maggiano's Little Italy. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for prioritizing and communicating server's food orders to line cooks for production.

Essential Functions:

  • Arrange food orders according to tickets and ensure timely delivery to the kitchen staff.
  • Balance the needs of cooks and servers to ensure seamless service.
  • Understand and read server orders, both handwritten and computerized, to ensure accuracy.
  • Organize server orders for the cook line in order of receipt to minimize delays.
  • Coordinate orders per ticket to ensure complete delivery and meet customer expectations.
  • Assume responsibility for all communication between service staff and kitchen staff, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Clearly and audibly announce servers' orders to line cooks to prevent errors.
  • Properly garnish menu items to meet our high standards of presentation.
  • Operate all functions of the position alone and without assistance if necessary, demonstrating independence and self-motivation.
  • Perform all functions of line and prep cooks, including food preparation and presentation.
  • Maintain menu item counts and communicate to servers when quantities fall below 10 to prevent stockouts.
  • Assure and maintain food quality standards, adhering to our high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Communicate cordially, effectively, and clearly with co-workers to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform varied duties to ensure proper back-of-house operation according to standing operating procedure.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2 years of restaurant experience or equivalent, with knowledge and experience in the preparation of food items. The ideal candidate will be able to meet personal schedule requirements punctually, project a friendly, courteous, and pleasant attitude, and provide a clean, well-manicured persona that reflects the established image of the restaurant.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand and/or walk for an entire shift, demonstrating stamina and endurance.
  • Safely transport items to and from the kitchen on a slick and uneven surface and up and/or down stairs where applicable.
  • Move and transport hot plates to a common or set area for pick-up.
  • Retrieve and stock shelves and coolers, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Safely move about in all areas of the restaurant, including kitchen, dining area, and storage areas.
  • Work a variable and flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Perform in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke, and extreme temperatures, demonstrating resilience and determination.
