Position Summary:
This role supports a prominent research initiative, requiring the Phlebotomist to be ready for rapid deployment globally. The Phlebotomist will ensure the safe and efficient collection of specimens from designated individuals, adhering to strict protocols for specimen handling, labeling, and packaging. Collaboration with team leadership is essential to coordinate onsite functions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be prepared to travel internationally within 72 hours of notification.
- Collect blood and non-blood specimens, including urine and throat swabs, for laboratory analysis.
- Operate centrifuge equipment for specimen processing.
- Conduct preliminary screening tests and accurately report findings.
- Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.
- Package specimens for shipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain necessary supplies and equipment during travel.
- Submit travel documentation promptly upon return.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification as a phlebotomist from any state or US territory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Experience in remote or austere settings is preferred.
- Prior military or emergency response experience is advantageous.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to perform BLS interventions effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Proficient in providing clear directions to support staff.
- Adaptability to changing work conditions and responsibilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
- A valid passport is required.
