Position Overview

We are in search of an Academic Specialist in Early Childhood and Teacher Education. This role involves collaboration with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and includes responsibilities such as teaching and providing guidance to students during their practical experiences at various local organizations. The position is a full-time, administrative role structured around a thirty-five (35) hour work week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction for up to 15 hours weekly during the academic semester, accommodating both daytime and evening classes.
  • Work alongside the ECE/TE Department Coordinator on grant-related initiatives.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, including outreach and coordination of student cohorts.
  • Conduct site visits, evaluate, and contribute to the assessment of student performance.
  • Participate in the Department's Advisory Council.
  • Facilitate the ECE/TE Future Teacher's Club (FTC).
  • Engage in the preparation and application processes for Dual-Enrollment programs.
  • Support outreach efforts and the establishment of articulation agreements with four-year colleges.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in a field related to Education is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience at the community college level in Early Childhood and Teacher Education is essential.
  • Experience in assessment, fieldwork, and monitoring grant-related projects is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to working with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in Blackboard and modern educational technologies, along with their application in classroom settings, is required.
