Job Summary

As an Emergency Services Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. You will assist nursing staff in performing designated duties related to patient care, adhering to instructions and protocols, and documenting care in electronic medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff in obtaining vital signs, EKGs, and basic wound care, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Document care in electronic medical records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain supplies per department standards, ensuring a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge and practice in sterile and isolation techniques, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Assist with instructing patients in crutch walking and applying splints and orthopedic appliances under the direction of RNs or practitioners.
  • Function as a phlebotomist as directed by RNs or practitioners, ensuring accurate and efficient blood draws.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of clinical experience in an emergency department or urgent care setting.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 4 months of hire, and Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington) within 4 months of hire, or Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 4 months of hire, or Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, basic computer skills, and knowledge and skill in emergency services protocols, patient safety, and clinical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of clinical experience in an emergency department or urgent care setting.
  • EMT training.
