Bright Light Academy is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Assistant Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our childcare center.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in administering the program's objectives and activities, ensuring alignment with Keystone Stars policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and plan daily activities with group supervisors, assistant group supervisors, and aides in all age groups, promoting a safe and stimulating environment for children.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all students, including physicals, clearances, continuing education, assessments, emergency forms, medication forms, observations, behavior reports, and boo-boo reports.
- Assist the director in implementing and enforcing DHS regulations and Keystone Stars policies and procedures as needed.
- Plan and supervise emergency evacuations and lockdown drills, ensuring the safety of all children and staff.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and in-services, staying up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education.
- Answer phones, schedule meetings, conferences, and other tasks as needed, providing excellent customer service to parents and staff.
- Help create a safe and stimulating environment for all students and staff, promoting a positive learning atmosphere.
- Monitor and engage with children during playtime, meals, and other daily routines, providing individual and group support as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development and progress, providing updates and feedback as needed.
- Complete child assessments and participate in parent-teacher conferences, working collaboratively with parents to support their child's growth and development.
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Children and Families.
- Two+ years of experience working with young children, preferably toddlers.
- Must qualify as a Group Supervisor with DHS.
- Pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks.
- Be 18 years or older and able to work in the United States.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs, see, hear, and sit on the floor with children.
- Must be patient, nurturing, and able to create a positive learning environment.
- This is a full-time, year-round position with a pay range starting at $18.00 up to $20.00 per hour, with a pay increase based on performance and education at the end of a 90-day probation period.
- Full-time staff receive paid holidays, PTO, sick time, dental or vision insurance, reduced childcare, and more.
- Full-time staff work a four-day work week.
