We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a full range of automated and non-automated laboratory procedures in various areas, including chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology.
Responsibilities- Evaluate the suitability of specimens for analysis and prepare them for testing.
- Select, perform, and evaluate test procedures using manual and instrumental techniques.
- Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products.
- Calibrate, standardize, and maintain instruments.
- Evaluate the validity of data and correlate quantitative data with patient information.
- Perform additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient results.
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related program.
- Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Minimum one year of experience within the past five years.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
