About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to join our MedSurg team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to develop and implement unit/department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective relationships with interdisciplinary teams and departments to ensure efficient and quality patient care services.
  • Capacity Management: Contribute to hospital/entity capacity management efforts and ensure smooth patient throughput.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement standards of performance for associates, evaluate performance, and conduct performance management planning.
  • Professional Development: Provide ongoing feedback and champion the continued professional growth and development of associates.
  • Financial Management: Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to develop and implement the unit/department-based budget and support organizational objectives, patient care standards, and quality of care.
  • Operational Efficiency: Demonstrate fiscal responsibility with day-to-day unit productivity and operations.
  • Quality and Safety: Implement approaches and strategies that optimize patient care delivery and outcomes.
  • Human Resources: Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in the hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of personnel within the assigned unit/department.
  • Staffing and Scheduling: Monitor and ensure appropriate staffing for unit(s).
  • Orientation and Competency: Assist with developing unit-specific orientation of newly hired associates and preceptor and charge/resource nurse programs.
  • Competency Assessment: Plan and coordinate the assessment of unit-specific competencies for all nursing personnel within the unit/department.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
  • Experience: 3-4 years progressive nursing care experience required.
  • Leadership Experience: Leadership and management experience preferred.
  • Licensure: RN licensure and/or compact state licensure in Maryland required.
  • Certifications: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
  • Specialty Certifications: Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty Certification: Specialty certification from a nationally recognized nursing organization in either a clinical specialty or Nursing Administration.

$100,588 - $180,419
