Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist

At IDR Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for conducting sonography examinations and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infection control protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety of patients during sonographic examinations.
  • Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information to ensure accurate and effective examination procedures.
  • Evaluate patient contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and patient inability or unwillingness to tolerate examinations and associated procedures.
  • Communicate with patients in a manner appropriate to their ability to understand.
  • Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, and equipment adjustment to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Conduct patient clinical assessments and perform diagnostic medical examinations ordered by supervising physicians in accordance with professional and facility protocols.
  • Apply independent judgment and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures.
  • Apply independent judgment during sonography examinations to ensure accurate capture of anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions in examination images.
  • Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
  • Acquire additional ultrasound imaging as necessary to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for interpreting physicians.
  • Identify and document any limitations to sonography examinations.
  • Review examination images and synthesize examination results.
  • Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and facility policies.
  • Adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards.
  • Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Guidelines.
  • Provide preliminary reports of sonography examinations for use by interpreting physicians.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the sonography facility.
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure ultrasound equipment operates at optimal levels.
  • Exercise responsibility to ensure ultrasound equipment is functioning accurately.
  • Assume responsibility for the preventive maintenance program for ultrasound equipment.
  • Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to interpreting physicians.
  • Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records, and logs.
Qualifications:
  • Sonography education, training, and experience in the specialty area(s) to be performed.
  • Demonstrated competence in the specialty area(s) to be performed, including sonographer certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs used for documentation activities and report generation.
  • State sonographer licensure, where applicable.
