Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac Sonographer to perform echocardiograms and other ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages, including fetuses, newborns, and adults with congenital heart disease.

Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiograms and other ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families, and answer any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
  • Prepare patients for exams and perform procedures per echo lab protocol.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to obtain clinical history and informed consent.
  • Identify errors and take immediate action for corrections.
  • Assist technical director in obtaining or maintaining IAC accreditation.
  • Act as a preceptor and resource for students and new sonographers.
  • Maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
  • Participate in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities.
  • Travel to outside clinic locations.
Requirements
  • Hours: 8:30-5:00, M-F, no on-call.
  • Location: Inova Children's Cardiology.
  • Travel: Various satellite clinics in Virginia and Maryland.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited diagnostic ultrasound school or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare setting.
  • Experience: Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a sonographer or sonographer student.
  • Certification: ARDMS or CCI registered. Must have RDCS or RDMS with at least two sonographer specialities (ie: pediatric and/or fetal echocardiography, OB/GYN, adult echocardiography); BLS Certification from AHA.
