Role Overview:
The Senior Patient Care Assistant is responsible for executing fundamental nursing tasks and fulfilling designated responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to, performing phlebotomy, conducting 12-lead EKGs, executing Point of Care Testing, and providing direct observation for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness and organization within departmental areas.
- Restock supplies as necessary.
- Facilitate patient transportation.
- Support patient care activities relevant to the assigned area, including but not limited to, monitoring vital signs, assisting with post-mortem care, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, conducting 12-lead EKGs, understanding disaster response protocols, assisting with patient undressing and procedures, distributing meals, and providing assistance in feeding patients when required, as well as Point of Care Testing.
- Provide one-on-one observation for patients.
- Conduct departmental errands, including but not limited to, pharmacy, medical records, and central supply.
- Communicate patient status to the incoming shift.
- Familiarize oneself with Emergency Department policies and procedures regarding disaster management.
- Act as a female chaperone for GYN examinations as required.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program or six (6) months of relevant hospital experience as a Nursing Assistant, or experience as a pre-hospital provider.
- NYS Nurse Attendant certification is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Capability to work in diverse environments and to lift, turn, and position patients as necessary.
- BLS/Heartsaver certification is required.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is between $23.86 and $26.23 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant at the time of this job advertisement and may be subject to change.
