Caregiver DSP Home Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Home Coordinator to join our team at Caregiver, Inc. as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) Caregiver. As a Home Coordinator, you will play a vital role in providing direction and guidance to direct care staff caring for clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a supported living or community-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and direct the care of clients
  • Monitor client care activities of direct support staff
  • Ensure compliance with Individual Support Plans and Standards of Care
  • Assist with determining staffing schedules and levels
  • Prevent client abuse by adhering to policies and procedures
  • Complete administrative and clerical documentation
  • Provide direct client care, including transportation and household management
  • Maintain and schedule medical appointments

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One-year supervisory experience working with developmentally, intellectually and/or physically disabled individuals preferred
  • Completion of an accepted Ohio medication certification and Department of Ohio Developmental Disabilities (DODDs) eight-hour training course
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License Required
  • Valid Automobile Insurance Required
  • Proof of completed High School or GED (Diploma or Official Transcript) Required
  • CPR and First Aid

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive mental activities, including the ability to use educated and intuitive judgment, advise, counsel, influence, debate, negotiate, organize, plan, and synthesize concepts
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills to improve employee development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Work Environment:

The Home Coordinator will work in a home-based setting, with varying degrees of background noise, standard office lighting and ventilation, and occasional temperature fluctuations. Normal business hours with flexibility to work overtime or non-standard hours as required to maintain staffing in the assigned home for continuity of care.
