At The Salvation Army, we are committed to serving and impacting our local community through our retail team. Our Geary Thrift Store supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program, and we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Donation Attendant to join our team.

Job Summary

The Donation Attendant will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the donation trailer/pod, assisting donors with the receipt of donated items, and separating and sorting donated materials into the proper containers. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clean the donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Assist donors with the receipt of donated items and provide receipts
  • Separate and sort donated materials into the proper containers
  • Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as needed
  • Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out
  • Secure and lock the donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Must pass background check, which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry
  • Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts
  • Ability to move product up to 75lbs
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks

Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
