Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team at Westminster Public Schools. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students, staff, and community members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive students safely to and from school/destination by following a specified route, arriving and departing on time, and establishing a safe and orderly environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, including data for reporting to federal, state, local agencies, and the district.
  • Perform safety drills with students, review proper safety procedures, and comply with health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Assist students on/off the bus, including medical equipment, backpacks, wheelchair lifts, and Star seats.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, district staff, parents, and students, and respond to requests submitted electronically.
  • Maintain district assets, including ensuring proper functionality of assigned vehicles, servicing bus interiors and exteriors, and fueling buses.
Requirements
  • Valid Colorado driver's license.
  • BOCES Safety Training Certificate required within 60 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Certification required within three months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • English language skills, bilingual desired.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Mental Functions: Compare, compute, analyze, communicate, evaluate, copy, instruct, negotiate.

Work Environment: Wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, work near moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, work in high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, vibration.

Vision Demands: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
