Optometric Assistant

McFarland Clinic is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team at our West Ames office. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering top-notch eye care services.

• Prepare patients for exams and take visual acuity measurements
• Perform basic screening tests and educate patients on eye care
• Refill medications and conduct ancillary tests as needed
• Schedule patients and answer phone calls in a timely and professional manner

• High School Diploma, GED, or HiSET
• Ability to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
• Availability to work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
• Ophthalmic experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training available
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to multitask
• Keyboard and computer experience
• One year of work experience in a medical office setting preferred
