Position Overview

As a key member of our engineering team at System One, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of civil and geotechnical engineering projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of projects while ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.

  • Manage expenditures within the constraints of the project budget.
  • Identify staffing needs and coordinate with management for project support.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of project documentation, including design documents and bid packages.
  • Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles and standards.
  • Coordinate technical developments, scheduling, and resolution of engineering design issues.
  • Prepare interim and final project reports.
  • Communicate project status and progress to clients, project teams, and management.
  • Classify soils according to established standards.
  • Apply geological knowledge to address engineering challenges in construction projects.
  • Prepare geological reports and maps, interpreting research data and recommending further actions.
  • Participate in environmental studies and prepare related reports.
  • Direct exploratory drilling operations.
  • Ensure installation of monitoring wells meets state and federal standards.
  • Supervise the collection of soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis.
  • Analyze historical records and site-specific data to determine groundwater flow direction.
  • Assess contamination levels in soil and groundwater at environmental sites.
  • Engage in decision-making regarding research priorities and project feasibility.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and interns, offering guidance and support.
  • Identify opportunities for new projects and promote the company's services.
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections and project requirements.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 0 to 3 years of experience in Site Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental engineering.

• Previous internship or construction experience is advantageous.

• Familiarity with inspection processes for various construction elements.

• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is required.

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred, or the ability to obtain registration within six months.

• Additional certifications such as ACI/NICET/NJ DCA Special Inspector and Nuclear Densometer are a plus.

• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation for site access.

• Proficiency in mathematical concepts and software tools including AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and MS Office Suite.

• Ability to utilize various tools for engineering tasks.
