Overview

Mercy Medical Center Redding has been a cornerstone of health care in the North State for over 70 years, delivering extensive medical services and acute care. This 267-bed facility is equipped with a Level II Trauma Center and offers specialized services in Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. As the exclusive provider of obstetrical services in the region, it also houses the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. The hospital's network includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living, making it a vital part of the community. Mercy Medical Center Redding is affiliated with the Dignity Health system and collaborates with St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. As a leading non-profit employer in the area, we are dedicated to enhancing community health through various programs and services.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will serve as an advanced Respiratory Therapist, proficient in executing all therapies provided by the Respiratory Care Department across the hospital with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include assisting in maintaining adequate staffing levels and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of professional experience or 3 years of clinical exposure as mandated for a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care within an acute care environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care OR an Associate's degree in Respiratory Care with current Adult Critical Care Specialty certification
  • Proficient communication skills in English and strong critical thinking abilities
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS required (certification must be through the American Heart Association)
  • Active California RCP license in good standing required
  • RRT and NRP certifications are mandatory
  • NPS credentialing must be achieved within one year of employment
  • EEG training must be completed within one year of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in an acute care setting, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care
  • Bachelor's degree with current Adult Critical Care Specialty and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty certifications
