Position Overview:
The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision, performs a variety of sonography and vascular procedures in line with departmental protocols. This role involves conducting ultrasound examinations on patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, and assisting physicians during interventional procedures. The sonographer selects appropriate applications and technical parameters, ensuring adherence to all departmental processes. Responsibilities include managing designated areas or procedures, participating in performance improvement initiatives, and complying with all relevant regulations and standards.
Value Added to the Team:
- Consistently achieves high-quality imaging results tailored to patient needs, as evaluated by Radiologists and department leadership.
- Demonstrates eagerness to enhance clinical skills and stays updated with emerging procedures. Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff.
- Completes examinations promptly while assessing patient preparation status and scheduling accordingly. Communicates findings effectively to physicians and maintains professional relationships with all stakeholders.
- Accurately documents and charges procedures to meet departmental quality standards. Adheres to all policies and procedures.
- Conducts a full range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates all relevant equipment. Adapts to new technologies and contributes to the training of colleagues and students.
Qualifications for Success:
- Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program
- Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the following specialties:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Abdomen (AB)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Vascular (VT)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field
