Position Overview:

  • Oversee wine pairings and suggest wines by the glass to patrons.
  • Ensure stemware is polished and ready for service.
  • Communicate inventory requirements for stemware on a monthly basis.
  • Update wine lists and maintain their cleanliness.
  • Restock wine fridges nightly while managing open bottles.
  • Complete nightly closing checklists.
  • Safeguard all wine and beverage products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation and side work as needed to support dinner service.
  • Serve pairing wines for our prix fixe menus promptly.
  • Provide concise explanations of wine pairings.
  • Maintain the presentation of assigned work areas.
  • Stay focused on operations during service hours.
  • Fulfill closing duties as assigned.
  • Assist in receiving and storing wine products appropriately.
  • Ensure the security of all wine assets.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a sommelier in a high-end dining environment.
  • Experience managing a large wine cellar with over 1000 selections.
  • Proven ability to train others effectively.
  • Introductory or Certified status with W.S.E.T. or C.M.S.
  • Experience with award-winning wine cellars.
  • Basic understanding of wine business operations.
  • Familiarity with major wine regions and producers.

Preferred:

  • Certified or Advanced status with W.S.E.T. or C.M.S.
  • Experience visiting vineyards and producers in key wine regions.
  • Knowledge of Michelin-rated establishments.

Work Schedule:

  • This position typically requires a 5-day work week, with days off usually on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Schedule may vary based on operational needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on the dining floor for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift up to 40 lbs repeatedly.
  • Ability to transport heavy items as needed.
  • Willingness to stand and walk for long durations.
