We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and implementing therapeutic recreation programs for inmates.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and conduct therapeutic recreation activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, and exercise programs, to promote physical and emotional well-being.
- Assess and evaluate the needs of inmates and develop individualized treatment plans to meet those needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for inmates.
- Provide instructional guidance and support to inmates in recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of program activities, participant progress, and other relevant information.
- Perform security functions as required, including man-down, shakedown, and inmate movement.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Associate degree in recreational therapy or a related field.
- At least 24 months of experience in activity therapy or recreation.
- Or completion of undergraduate core program in recreation area and 12 months of experience in activity therapy or recreation.
- Or 12 months of experience as a General Activities Therapist 1.
