The RN will be responsible for the planning and assessment of services in the OPSU/PACU, showcasing the necessary expertise and skills to deliver care for patients undergoing pre and post-operative procedures. The care provided will be tailored to meet the needs of various age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
As a 45-bed facility, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center serves both rural and suburban communities. Established in 1900, we are committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate healthcare. Our advanced cardiac catheterization lab allows us to offer a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, ensuring timely care when it is most critical. The hospital operates 24/7 emergency services as an accredited chest pain center and provides extensive outpatient, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty services. Recognized as a LifePoint Health National Quality Leader, we are at the forefront of delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate services in the OPSU/PACU in alignment with established philosophies and objectives.
- Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained consistently.
- Implement effective cost containment strategies on a daily basis.
- Manage patient care in the OPSU and/or PACU effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to develop, implement, and revise nursing care plans for ambulatory surgical patients as necessary.
- Provide psycho-social support to patients, families, and staff on a daily basis.
- Address operational concerns with anesthesia providers as needed.
- Maintain and order special supplies based on the requirements of the OPSU/PACU.
- Engage in Performance Improvement Projects within the OPSU and PACU.
- Review incident and accident reports with management and implement necessary changes.
- Conduct rapid assessments to differentiate between immediate and long-term patient needs during the peri-anesthesia period.
- Document relevant patient information, nursing interventions, and responses accurately and promptly.
- Educate patients, families, and community members, and participate in preoperative assessments and education.

- Demonstrate adaptability in response to changes in workload, emergencies, and staffing needs.
- Interact with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision, maximizing productivity.
- Treat all individuals with respect for their rights, cultural diversity, and emotional needs, serving as a patient advocate.
- Complete all mandatory training and stay informed about changes within the Medical Center.
- Follow the Employee Handbook and relevant facility policies, including clinical and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure:
- Current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license from compact member states is required.
Experience:
- Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is preferred but not mandatory.
- Critical Care experience in PACU is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills:
- BLS Certification is required.
- ACLS Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
- Ability to thrive in a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
- Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Successful completion of orientation and probationary period is required.

$30,000 Sign-On Bonus available.
