Position Overview
As an MRI Technologist, you will conduct magnetic resonance imaging scans as per the directives of the radiologist. You will maintain effective communication with physicians and relevant personnel throughout the process.This role is eligible for bonuses; further details are available.
Key Responsibilities
CLINICAL:
Screen patients prior to entering the MRI scanning area. Ensure all MRI equipment and materials are compatible with MRI standards. Prioritize patient safety and confirm patient identities and procedures. Maintain accurate patient records and complete necessary MR questionnaires. Adhere to hand hygiene protocols and follow established guidelines for contrast administration to ensure safe practices. Accurately position patients for optimal imaging results and understand protocols for patients with cardiac devices. Select appropriate coils and adhere to scanning procedures. Timely mark studies as ready for interpretation in the PACS system. Prepare the scanning room and gather necessary supplies. Administer contrast materials using proper techniques and monitor for any adverse reactions. Maintain a clean and stocked environment while responding appropriately to emergencies. Participate in quality control initiatives. 40%CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Engage with patients regarding MR questionnaires and relevant clinical history. Clearly explain the MRI procedure to patients and their families. Collect completed questionnaires and necessary medical history from the patient's physician. Ensure patients and visitors are free of any objects that may interfere with the MRI process. Communicate any delays to patients and families and document the release of protected health information. Mentor co-workers and students while promoting patient education and participating in quality assurance activities. 30%ADMINISTRATIVE:
Obtain requisitions and validate clinical charges. Complete all necessary EPIC exam documentation and scan relevant information. Charge for procedures, supplies, and surgical codes upon completion of exams. Operate the PACS system efficiently and verify studies before archiving. Report any equipment issues to management and document the necessary confirmation. Maintain educational files and collaborate with radiologists to determine appropriate exam protocols. Ensure that scan names correspond accurately in EPIC EMR, PACS, and billing systems. Adhere to accreditation standards and maintain compliance documentation. 30%Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This position does not include management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor or manager.Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree with completion of an accredited radiology program
- 1 year of experience in diagnostic radiology, with preference for MR enrollment
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
- ARMIT or ARRT MRI Technologist Certification
- SCRSQA South Carolina Radiology Quality Standards Association (SCRSQA)
- AHA/BLS cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
