Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise the legal entity financial reporting teams to guarantee timely and precise compliance submissions.
- Offer expertise in accounting and regulatory matters to support business initiatives, special projects, and strategic goals.
- Stay informed on the latest developments in statutory and U.S. GAAP reporting to ensure accurate representation in legal entity financial statements.
- Collaborate with various functions to comprehend the objectives and strategies of the legal entities, including product offerings and accounting methodologies.
- Facilitate efforts with other departments to establish efficient and consistent accounting and reporting practices, ensuring robust controls are in place.
- Oversee group capital management activities.
- Manage the audit process in collaboration with internal and external auditors, as well as regulatory examinations.
- Analyze quarterly results, providing insights into variances from expectations.
- Lead planning and budgeting discussions at the legal entity level, delivering comprehensive analyses.
- Engage in special projects as required.
Education and Experience
Education
- CPA certification is required.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in accounting or auditing, with a focus on interactions with auditors.
Essential:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, intermediate skills in Excel, and familiarity with SQL/Query.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance accounting principles.
- In-depth understanding of accounting and finance, including GAAP, statutory, and SEC regulations, with the ability to apply these guidelines effectively.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex business concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to balance detailed tasks with broader departmental objectives.
- Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management.
- Proficient in translating business challenges into effective solutions.
- Expertise in managing multiple projects and teams concurrently.
- Ability to collaborate with individuals across diverse operational and technical areas.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills when engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
