Key Responsibilities:- Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infection control protocols and patient safety standards.
- Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information to verify physician orders prior to examination.
- Ensure that sonography examination orders are complete and meet the standard of medical necessity.
- Inspect images for quality and monitor all images with respect to proper patient name, date, and medical record number prior to interpretation by radiologists.
- Assist with training of new technologists, technical assistants, and physician residents in all phases of assigned procedures.
- Communicate with patients in a manner appropriate to their ability to understand.
- Apply independent judgment during sonography examinations to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in examination images.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification.
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited educational program for diagnostic medical sonographers or equivalent.
- One to three years of clinical ultrasound experience.
- Minimum ARDMS registry certification to include abdomen or OB/GYN, with the other certification completed within six months.
