Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. As a key member of our Directed Energy team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical systems for the United States Air Force and other customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D solid models of complex hardware and systems, conducting thorough mechanical analysis to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Develop and implement mechanical designs in accordance with established company policies, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with government, Leidos, and vendor machine shops to procure parts and components.
  • Contribute to project success by effectively interfacing with the Leidos team and customers to develop creative and robust mechanical designs.
  • Resolve manufacturing and testing issues, providing innovative mechanical design and fabrication ideas.
  • Provide technical direction to internal functional engineering disciplines and vendors.
  • Develop and present reports and technical briefs to clearly communicate complex technical concepts during engineering meetings and program reviews.
  • Routinely function in a technical advisory or leadership role for projects/programs.
  • Represent the organization as a prime technical contact within the engineering team for assigned projects/programs.
  • Address technical issues requiring novel and creative approaches drawing on engineering concepts.
  • Work on diverse scope problems, determining methods and procedures for new assignments, and provide feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel.
  • Interact with outside customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups.
  • Some travel and work at remote sites may be occasionally required.
  • Regularly review program status, tracking and reviewing by both Engineering and Program Leadership.
  • Actively monitor, track, and manage program tasks, performance, subcontractors, risks, costs, and schedule.
  • Conduct quality review and submission of all deliverables.
  • Participate in the development of new or expansion of existing business opportunities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established policies, operating procedures, and practices.

Required Qualifications

  • BSME and 8-10+ years of prior relevant experience or MSME with 6+ years of prior experience.
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to government safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and communicate with machinists, technicians, engineers, and scientists.
  • Ability to organize and effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks.

Estimated Salary Range

$104,650 - $189,175 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
