As the Learning Lab Teacher, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the management and success of students in the computer labs, fostering an environment that encourages students to realize and achieve their academic potential. The Learning Lab Teacher is committed to creating a secure learning atmosphere for all students, adhering to protocols for addressing and reporting issues and incidents, and is accountable for monitoring various data points, including but not limited to credit recovery, attendance, ISP compliance, and student schedules.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Preparing and maintaining computer labs for safe and effective operation.
  • Establishing a lab environment where students feel secure and welcomed.
  • Independently instructing and supervising students in the use of computers and platforms to ensure adherence to instructions and evaluation of student performance.
  • Assessing, prescribing, and evaluating student behavior on an individual and ongoing basis.
  • Encouraging and tracking the progress of individual students according to specific timelines.
  • Maintaining precise and comprehensive records of student progress and development, including credit recovery documentation, attendance, and ISP data.
  • Updating all necessary records accurately and completely as mandated by laws, Ombudsman policies, and local district regulations.
  • Preparing required reports on student progress, achievements, and activities.
  • Managing student behavior in the labs by upholding the Ombudsman philosophy and policies, applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Accurately assigning suitable classes to students across various academic platforms.
  • Supporting and advising students with academic challenges and providing encouragement.
  • Participating in center meetings and student/parent meetings as requested.
  • Regularly communicating essential information to students, team members, supervisors, and parents regarding students' needs and academic progress.
  • Engaging in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure that the site meets performance standards.
  • Participating in all school and district professional development days.
  • Responding constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Collaborating with other staff for the benefit of the center.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
  • Previous experience in an alternative education and/or classroom setting is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, instructional, curriculum development, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced skills in working with students with disabilities and diverse needs at various levels.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and/or national content standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology, including experience with instructional technology, computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
