Position Overview
As a Product Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting all product innovation and marketing initiatives related to Bobcat's Class V Bit Truck Products. This product line currently includes Internal Combustion Engine Forklifts, with plans to expand into Electronic Models in the future.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Competitor Analysis
- Gather and assess market data segmented by industry, product, channel, and region.
- Analyze and report on competitor product strategies, including new offerings and pricing, to identify opportunities for differentiation.
- Collaborate with Marketing to initiate market and product research to gauge customer and dealer requirements through surveys, visits, and focus groups.
- Evaluate market and product research findings to formulate a long-term product strategy that enhances customer and dealer experiences.
- Review Engineering Change Notices for potential impacts and relay insights to marketing and channel managers.
Product Planning
- Identify operational challenges and integrate them into the product planning process, focusing on quality and manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop business cases for product initiatives, aligning with customer expectations and competitive analysis.
Product Management
- Provide comprehensive marketing plans, product specifications, and features to support business objectives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Assist the Program Management Office in ensuring product development aligns with market demands and project goals.
- Act as the Voice of the Customer, offering feedback to enhance product development.
- Coordinate with the attachments team to guarantee compatibility of all products with approved attachments.
- Create and maintain pricing and specification documentation.
- Configure new product and option packages within production planning systems.
- Work with Marketing to develop training resources for new product launches and participate in training events.
- Conduct training sessions to empower dealer Sales Specialists and Bobcat Field Marketers.
- Provide ongoing product support to enhance dealer performance.
- Refine existing or create new product management processes to promote collaboration across regions and functions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
- Experience: Familiarity with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Class V Big Truck material handling.
- Travel: 10-24% travel may be required.
- Knowledge of construction product development and operational experience.
- Experience in conducting customer research.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to audiences of varying sizes.
- Capability to address dealer staff objections and provide evidence-based support for changing perspectives.
- Potential for international travel.
